About Missile Defense — Classic Arcade City Defense Game
Missile Defense descends from Missile Command — the 1980 Atari arcade classic that defined a whole genre: tap-to-intercept defense. It is one of the most iconic Cold War-era arcade games, one where you attack no one and instead fight only to keep your own cities standing.
Six cities line the ground, and enemy missiles rain down from the sky. From a central battery you launch interceptors toward any point you choose — the projectile flies there and bursts into an expanding fireball that destroys every missile caught inside it. Each wave gives you limited ammunition, and the waves that follow come faster and thicker.
The skill is in anticipation. Interceptors take time to fly, so you must aim where a missile will be, not where it is. A well-placed blast can knock out three or four missiles at once. Manage your ammo, decide which city to sacrifice — Missile Defense is a pure high-score chase, easy to play but hard to master.
Tips & strategy
Lead your shots — interceptors take time to fly, so aim where the missile will be, not where it is right now.
Aim for clusters — one blast destroys every missile inside it, so wait for two or three to line up before firing.
Intercept high — kill missiles well above the rooftops; a miss up high still leaves time for a second shot.
Watch your ammo — it is limited each wave, so don't empty the battery on the first few missiles.
The blast lingers — place it slightly ahead of a missile and let the missile fly into the fireball.
Surviving cities pay a bonus every wave, so a city saved is worth far more than the points for a single missile.
When overwhelmed, protect the cluster of cities rather than the lone one — cut your losses deliberately.
Frequently asked questions
How do you play Missile Defense?
Tap the sky to launch an interceptor; its explosion destroys any missile caught inside. Defend your six cities through escalating waves of incoming missiles for as long as you can.
How do I aim?
Tap the exact point where you want the interceptor to explode. Because it takes time to fly there, aim ahead of fast missiles so the blast meets them.
Why did my interceptor miss?
The blast only destroys missiles inside its radius while it is active. If the missile had not reached that point yet — or had already passed through — it survives.
What happens when a missile hits a city?
That city is destroyed and cannot be rebuilt. When all six cities are gone, the game ends.
Does ammo run out?
Yes. Each wave gives you a limited number of interceptors. Your supply refills — and grows a little — at the start of every new wave.
How do you score?
You earn points for every missile destroyed, plus a bonus at the end of each wave for the cities still standing and the interceptors you didn't use.
