About Block Puzzle — Free Online Block Game, No Timer
Block Puzzle is a calm, satisfying grid game that anyone can pick up in seconds. You drag colourful blocks onto an 8×8 board, and whenever you completely fill a row or a column it clears away and scores points. There is no clock and no opponent — it is just you, the grid, and the quiet pull of beating your own best score.
Every turn hands you three pieces of different shapes, from single squares to long bars and chunky 3×3 blocks. You have to place all three before a new set appears, so the real puzzle is keeping enough open space for whatever comes next. One careless drop can box you in; one clever clear can open the whole board back up.
It is famously easy to learn and surprisingly hard to put down. The game ends only when none of your remaining pieces can fit anywhere on the board, which means every session is a fresh test of planning and patience. Play a quick round on your phone or a long, focused run on desktop — Block Puzzle works the same everywhere, free and with no install.
Tips & Strategy
Keep the middle of the board as open as possible — the centre is where big pieces and long bars need room to land.
Clear lines as early as you can. An almost-full board gives you far fewer safe places to drop the next piece.
Look at all three pieces before you place the first one. Plan the order so the awkward shapes still have a home.
Build toward rows and columns at the same time — a single block can sometimes complete a row and a column at once.
Try to clear two or more lines in one move. The score bonus grows with the square of the line count, so combos are worth chasing.
Leave the corners and edges for small pieces and L-shapes; save the wide open areas for squares and long bars.
If a 3×3 block appears, place it quickly while you still have a clean 3×3 gap — they get very hard to fit on a busy board.
Frequently Asked Questions
How do I play Block Puzzle?
Press Start, then drag any of the three blocks from the tray onto the 8×8 grid. A block can be placed wherever all of its cells land on empty squares.
How do I clear blocks and score?
Fill an entire row or an entire column with blocks and it clears instantly. You earn a point for every cell you place, plus a bonus that grows quickly when you clear several lines at once.
Is there a time limit?
No. Block Puzzle has no timer at all. You can think for as long as you like before every move, which makes it a great game to relax with.
When does the game end?
The game ends when none of the pieces left in your tray can fit anywhere on the board. Until then, you keep placing pieces and clearing lines.
Can I rotate the blocks?
No — blocks cannot be rotated. Each piece comes in a fixed shape, so part of the challenge is finding the right spot for the shape you are given.
Is Block Puzzle free to play?
Yes. Block Puzzle runs right in your browser on phone, tablet or computer — free, with no download, no sign-up and no ads in the way.
