About Air Hockey — Play the Classic Arcade Game vs Computer
Air Hockey is the fast, frictionless arcade classic that has lived on bar tables and amusement arcades since the early 1970s. Two players slide a striker — the mallet — across a slick table, blasting a flat puck at each other's goal. It is pure reflex and angles: simple to pick up, surprisingly deep once the puck starts flying.
This browser version puts you on the bottom half of the table against a computer opponent. Drag your mallet to move it, intercept the puck and slam it into the CPU's goal at the top. Your mallet stays in your own half, just like a real table, so positioning matters as much as power. The first side to score 7 goals wins the match.
The computer comes in three flavours. Easy reads the puck slowly and aims loosely — perfect for learning the angles. Medium is a genuine contest. Hard tracks the puck almost perfectly and counters hard, so you will need crisp shots and clever banks to beat it. No install, no sign-up — just open the table and play.
Tips & strategy
Don't chase the puck all over the table. Hang back, guard your goal, and let a wild shot come to you.
Aim for the corners of the goal, not the middle — the centre is exactly where the defending mallet sits.
Bank shots win games. Fire the puck off a side wall so it angles into the goal from a direction the CPU isn't covering.
A fast flick is a hard shot. Sweep your mallet through the puck — the quicker it's moving on contact, the harder the puck flies.
When defending, keep your mallet on the line between the puck and your goal. Meet the puck moving forward to turn a save into a counter-attack.
On mobile you can drag from anywhere on the screen — your finger never has to sit on the mallet, so it never blocks your view.
After you take a big swing you're out of position. Recover toward your goal immediately before the CPU fires back.
Frequently asked questions
How do you win at Air Hockey?
Score 7 goals before the computer does. Each time the puck crosses into a goal, that side scores one point and the puck is served back to the player who conceded.
How do I control my mallet?
On desktop, move the mouse and the mallet follows it. On mobile, drag anywhere on the table — the mallet moves with your finger. You can also nudge it with the arrow keys or WASD.
Can I play Air Hockey on my phone?
Yes. The game is fully touch-friendly. Drag anywhere on the screen to move your mallet — you don't have to touch the mallet itself, so your finger never blocks the puck.
How do I score more goals?
Shoot at the open corners instead of the centre, use bank shots off the side walls, and strike hard by flicking your mallet through the puck. Catch the CPU just after it has swung and is out of position.
What do the difficulty levels change?
They change how quickly and accurately the computer reads and chases the puck. Easy is slow and loose, Medium is balanced, and Hard tracks sharply and counters with power.
Is Air Hockey free to play?
Yes, completely free. It runs right in your browser with no install and no sign-up — pick a difficulty, press Start and play.
