About Spider Solitaire — Classic Free Card Game, Play Online

Spider Solitaire is the patient, strategic cousin of classic solitaire — a game so absorbing it became one of the most-played titles ever bundled with Windows. You are dealt 104 cards across ten columns, and your job is to build eight complete sequences, King down to Ace, until the whole table is clear.

Within the columns you build downward, and a run of cards in the same suit can be moved together as one. Drop a card onto any card one rank higher, regardless of suit, to shuffle your sequences into shape. Whenever a full King-to-Ace run of one suit lines up, it lifts off the table on its own.

When you run out of moves, deal a fresh row of ten cards from the stock — but only when every column still holds at least one card. Choose one, two or four suits: one suit is a gentle warm-up, four suits is a true test of planning. Undo is unlimited, so every game is yours to puzzle out.

Tips & strategy

  • Empty a column whenever you can — an empty space is the most valuable thing on the table, a place to park any card.
  • Build in a single suit as much as possible; only same-suit runs move as a group, and only same-suit runs ever complete.
  • Turn over face-down cards early — every flip reveals new options and new information.
  • Think before you deal: the stock drops a card on every column at once, often burying runs you were building.
  • Don't chase a tidy column at the cost of a buried face-down card; uncovering the unknown usually matters more.
  • Keep a high card like a King handy near an empty column so you have somewhere to start a new sequence.
  • Stuck is rarely final — undo freely and try ordering your moves differently before dealing.

Frequently asked questions

How do you play Spider Solitaire?

Arrange all 104 cards into eight runs of the same suit, each from King down to Ace. Build columns downward, move same-suit runs together, and deal new rows from the stock when you need them.

How do cards move in Spider Solitaire?

A card can be placed on any card one rank higher, of any suit. But only cards that already form a same-suit descending run can be picked up and moved as a group.

When can I deal from the stock?

Tap Deal to drop one card on each of the ten columns. The classic rule allows this only when no column is empty, so fill every gap first.

What are the suit difficulty options?

One suit is the easiest and great for learning. Two suits adds real challenge, and four suits — the standard full game — demands careful planning.

How do I win?

Complete all eight King-to-Ace sequences of a single suit. Each finished run is removed automatically; clear all eight and the game is won.

Can every Spider Solitaire game be won?

Not every deal is winnable, especially with four suits, but most are with careful play. Unlimited undo lets you rethink a line whenever it goes wrong.

Is Spider Solitaire free to play here?

Yes. It runs instantly in your browser on phone, tablet or desktop, with nothing to download or install.
